A has to VIN adhere to 2 international standards, namely; ISO 3779 2009 and US Standard FMVSS 115. The characters are not chosen at random, rather every single character and its position represents some information related to the make of the vehicle, model of the vehicle, year of manufacturing and certain specific details of the vehicle.
